Reunited

The Fam is here, and just recovering from the Seattle-to-Netherlands jetlag in just two weeks! For the first few days, we all slept for hours during the day, they because they were tired and me in "solidarity". We've had dinner with Jasmine and Hanneke and have plans to go to Hanneke's going-away bash on Friday, after dinner with Sonia and Cassie. Sheryl is starting to crave actual adult conversations with those other than me.

Sofia's schooling is not going as well as we had hoped, but I have her write four sentences a day about whatever she wants, and she practiced "long addition" today. Mostly, she's getting an overdose of Dutch-language television.

It is nice to have them here, but I'm constantly in fear that they are not having very much fun. Sheryl reminded me that I, too, was less-than-enthused about The Hague during my first two weeks here.

The weather has improved markedly, and the temporary, seasonal restaurants have been put up down on the beach. I think I'm going to like the summer here.

At work, I'm now the primary legal adviser on a pre-indictment investigation. Looks good on the resume!
